Our Artistic Director is awarded a Creative Development Fellowship

Our Artistic Director, Alison Barton, is Sunderland Culture's next Creative Development Fellow.

Alison’s practice to date has been varied. Initially Alison was a professional opera singer, then her practice expanded to include direction, production and coaching, and since 2008 she has been Artistic Director of Opera Sunderland.

Alison plans to use her Fellowship fund on executive coaching, with a coach specialising in the North East arts industry.

The Fellowship's aim to support artistic development within the city, by enabling each recipient to develop their creative practice in a range of diverse ways.
