Christmas Variety Night 2013

14 December 2013

A big thank you to everyone who came to our Christmas Variety Night, we had a wonderful evening on what was our first ever community fundraising event!

So what did we get up to?

Well, as we have so much musical talent amongst our supporters, we decided to have a variety evening with good old fashioned family entertainment and good food!

We were treated to wonderful performances, from well-known musical numbers, to classical repertoire and self-penned songs. The variety of performers reflects our aim to get people of all ages and abilities involved in singing and performing; our youngest performer was 8 yrs old, our Artistic Director performed an operatic number which knocked our socks off, and for one performer it was the first time she had sung solo in public!

The surprise element of the evening was a performance of Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas’ on swanny whistle and kazoo by our staff team, and once the tears of laughter had been wiped away we rounded the evening off with some rousing carols.

We're grateful to Sainsbury’s of Ryhope, Sunderland, for their donation of mulled wine; the perfect accompaniment to the mountains of mince pies made by our volunteers! The event wouldn't have been possible without the generous support of our volunteers (participants and staff) who helped by designing the event poster, organising performances, selling tickets and donating food.

We're delighted to have raised a total of £450 from the Variety Night and Great Big Small Charity Draw ticket sales. Every penny will go towards fundraising efforts for our next production.

THANK YOU!
